Cagliari, another renewal in defense

After the renewal of Gabriele Zappa, announced a week ago, Cagliari announced another important renewal in defense: "Cagliari Calcio è pleased to announce the contract renewal of Adam Obert who signed a new agreement until June 30, 2029".

Born in Bratislava in 2002, è landed in Italy when he was only 16 years old, joining the youth team of Sampdoria. Captured the interest of Cagliari, he continued his rise in Sardinia in 2021. He initially started on the Primavera team, with which he made his debut on August 21 against Lecce, totaling 18 appearances and scoring one goal during that season, almost contributing to winning the Primavera Scudetto. Despite his young age, he also earned a place in the first team, making his Serie A debut on Oct. 24, at age 19, in an away match in Florence. He participated in eight matches between the league and Coppa Italia.

The 2022/23 season marked his definitive consecration: he took the field on 35 occasions, becoming a key element in the club’s return to Serie A. He continued to prove his worth the following season, making 20 appearances and making a decisive contribution to the team’s salvation.

Endowed with an excellent left foot, physical strength and versatility, he is employed both as a central defender and as an outside player, a position that allows him to express his propensity for running and crosses. This year he has already accumulated 14 appearances, including a decisive assist in the away win against Monza on Jan. 5. Two weeks later, in the Cagliari-Lecce match that ended 4-1, he scored his first goal in the professional ranks with an impressive looping finish.

He collected 13 appearances with the Slovak Under-21 team and made his debut with the senior national team on Nov. 20, 2022, totaling 11 appearances, including two matches during the 2024 European Championship in Germany.
