After the draw against Venezia, Hellas Verona places a double blow in defense, one in and one out. Through a note issued on its official channels, in fact, the Verona club announced the outright purchase of Daniel Oyegoke, a 2003-born English defender from Hearts. At the same time, the Veneto club also made official the sale of Giancomo Magnani to Palermo.
"Hellas Verona FC announces that it has acquired – outright – from Heart of Midlothian Football Club the sporting services of English defender Daniel Oyegoke, who has signed a contract with the club gialloblù until June 30, 2028. Born Jan. 3, 2003, in Barnet, a district in north London, Oyegoke began his sports career in the youth ranks of Arsenal. In the four seasons he played in the Gunners’ youth academy, from Under 18 to Under 23, the defender collected 33 appearances between Under 18 Premier League, FA Youth Cup, EFL Trophy and Premier League 2.
In July 2021, at age 18, he moved to Brentford, where he was attached to the B team and stayed for one season. In the following year, 2022/23, Oyegoke moved to Milton Keynes Dons Football Club, an English third division team, with whom he made 18 league and cup appearances. The following season he joined Bradford City, with whom he played 24 games in League Two, the fourth division of English soccer.
On July 1, 2024, he moved to Hearts, in the Scottish Premiership, taking the field for nineteen days and scoring one goal. In Edinburgh the defender also makes his debut in the European cups, playing one game in the Europa League preliminaries and five in the Conference League.
In England national team jerseys, Oyegoke boasts 32 total appearances in youth selections, from the Under 16 to the Under 20. In 2022 the defender took part in the Under-19 European Championship, which England won, and in 2023 he also played in the Under-20 World Championship.
