Pinturault drama, French champion breaks silence after serious injury

Moment of reflection for Alexis Pinturault
The bad fall on the Streif, during last Friday’s Kitzbühel Super-G, will inevitably condition Alexis Pinturault’s season, who will definitely skip the World Championships in Saalbach-Hinterglemm, scheduled for February, and in all likelihood will be forced to wear skis well past the end of this World Cup season.
The French champion himself spoke clearly on 'X' about his condition: "Difficult to understand, to analyze, to accept,” the Frenchman wrote.
Fractured tibial plateau, meniscus injury… Thank you for your supportive messages, I need time to see everything more clearly".
Pinturault had yet to score a podium finish this World Cup season, just as in 2024 he had never managed to finish in the top three. His last podium appearance è was on March 12, 2023 (third place in the giant slalom in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia), while his last success was on March 20, 2021, in the giant slalom in Lenzerheide.
It was precisely in 2021 that Pinturault achieved his most prestigious success, the one in the overall World Cup standings: in the 2020/2021 season he was also able to establish himself in the specialty standings of the giant slalom, as well as in the November 27, 2020 parallel slalom won in Lech/Zürs, Austria.
