Another record, this time unprecedented in history.

Jannik Sinner is constantly writing and rewriting the history of tennis, but one of the statistics he has recorded after his new triumph at the Australian Open leaves one speechless more than others. This is underlined by the 'ATP Tour' itself, pointing out that the new record of the South Tyrolean champion is unprecedented in history.

The statistic in question opens at the moment when Sinner è hoisted himself to the top of the ATP rankings, that is, after last year’s Roland Garros. Well: since then he has delivered to the archives 47 wins and 3 losses, thus winning 94% of the matches played in the meantime. But, since the circuit itself è was opened back in 1973, no one had ever gone that far.

Obviously these numbers will have to be updated in the future as well, but to understand the magnitude of what Sinner è has been able to do in recent months suffice it to say that following him in this very special ranking are Bjorn Borg (91.9 percent) and Jimmy Connors (90.1 percent). Obviously the two had a much larger number of matches to their credit, but at the moment they find themselves trailing.

Sinner’s quintessential rival, Carlos Alcaraz, è has been No. 1 on the ATP circuit for 42 matches and has won 33 against 9 losses. His percentage thus stands at 78.6 percent, again behind the San Candido phenomenon.
