Francisco Cervelli and Ned Colletti ready for blue adventure

The new course of Baseball Italy, with the 2025 European Championships, the 2026 World Baseball Classic and the ambition to participate in the 2028 Olympic Games on the horizon, passes through the appointments of Francisco Cervelli and Ned Colletti: the former è the new Azzurri technical commissioner, the latter will bring his experience as general manager.

"He will start working right away on the project,” Cervelli explained at the press conference, “which is to grow our Italy, build the National Team as strong as possible and to make our athletes understand that we can become a baseball powerhouse; not è the goal of a few years or a tournament, but a medium- to long-term project. To this I will devoteò time and passion, I will putò all my knowledge" at our disposal.

Cervelli will also be in close contact with the staffs of the Under 23 and Under 18: "I am ready to lead as I have never done in my life,” he said: talent canò be found anywhere, and I will moveò everywhere, even in the smallest centers, to go look for it. I want to see players, meet them, discover them".

"I love baseball,” Colletti echoed him, “its international development è it has always been my goal and I accepted this project becauseé I want Italians to follow it, to get more and more passionate about it, and to create more and more opportunities for young people to start playing it. I want to apply this model to’Italy, to make sure that fifteen years from now we will look back and, maybe seeing more Italians in the Major League, we will think of 2026 as the turning point".
