Lloyd Kelly leaves Newcastle, but remains HCL

After Alberto Costa and Renato Veiga, Juventus places its third defensive reinforcement on the gong. In the very last hours of the winter soccer market, the Bianconeri club announced the purchase on loan with mandatory redemption of Lloyd Kelly from Newcastle.

"Juventus announces the arrival of Lloyd Kelly, a versatile and talented defender, who joins the Bianconeri team to strengthen the backline. Lloyd, born in 1998, arrives on loan and signs a contract that binds him to Juventus until June 30, 2025, with subsequent obligation of redemption by the club upon the occurrence of certain conditions during the 2024/2025 football season. Coming from Newcastle, Kelly brings with sé experience, physicalityà and a marked ability in aerial play and defensive reading.

Born Oct. 6, 1998, in Bristol, Lloyd Kelly è a central defender who can also be employed as a left-back. He grew up in Bristol City’s youth ranks and made his first-team debut in 2017, attracting attention for his combination of physical strength and technical qualities. In 2019 è moved to Bournemouth, where he è remained until 2024, playing 141 games and scoring on 3 occasions. In the current season he played in the ranks of Newcastle (14 total appearances).

Kelly stands out for his speed, ability to set up the action from the back and tactical reading of the game. Thanks to his imposing stature (1.90 m), è he is an effective defender in aerial duels, both defensively and in dead-ball situations. His dynamism allows him to adapt to different tactical modules, making him a valuable pawn for Juventus’ back pack. Lloyd, welcome to Turin!" this is the statement issued by Juventus.

In the very last hours of the market, the Bianconeri’s priority will be to place some redundancies in the squad, one of them being Nicolò Fagioli, who is reportedly disputed between Fiorentina and Marseille.
