F1, Ferrari welcomes back Zhou Guanyu

Zhou Guanyu will be one of Ferrari’s two reserve drivers

Not only Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton: Ferrari, on Wednesday, completed the picture of drivers available for the 2025 Formula 1 season by announcing its reserve drivers, Antonio Giovinazzi and Zhou Guanyu. That of the Chinese, in particular, è a return to Maranello, since he had been part of the Driver Academy from 2015 to 2018.

"It's a great honor to be a 'reserve driver' and to help the team in the development of the car, I can&#39t wait to get started. It's great, then, to be back where it all è began" said the 1999-born driver to the Scuderia&#39s official channels, who has raced for the past three years as a starter in F1 for Sauber (first under the Alfa Romeo brand, then as Kick Sauber).

Zhou, after leaving the Ferrari Driver Academy, raced for three seasons in F2, finishing third overall in the 2021 year: in the second series, the Chinese driver won a total of five races, one in 2020 and four in the following season, again racing for Virtuosi Racing.

In 2022 his debut in Formula 1, behind the wheel of the Alfa Romeo: 18th in his first season, his best result was an eighth place in Canada. The following year he confirmed eighteenth in the overall standings, again with Alfa, while in 2024 he finished twentieth with Kick Sauber going to the points only on one occasion, when in Bahrain è he finished eighth.
