Jiovanni Manna responds to criticism of the Naples market

Danilo, Pietro Comuzzo, Alejandro Garnacho, Karim Adeyemi, Allan Saint-Maximin. Engaged in different roles and in different leagues, these players all have one thing in common: their names è been approached to Napoli, which però has not closed any of these operations, limiting itself to the arrival from Milan of Noah Okafor and other minor operations.

Napoli's approach to the winter market has been criticized by several parties, so much so that the club decided to call a press conference for Wednesday morning in which Giovanni Manna, the sporting director of the Neapolitan club, tried to shed light on the work done by the management in January.

"For Danilo we had really defined everything – Manna explained -, then he made a different life choice, it had to go like thisì. For Comuzzo we had thought of a prospective investment that would also allow us to send Rafa Marin to a club that would guarantee him more space on the field, but the request was too much beyond the player".

"Garnacho we met him, an agreement in principle with Manchester United was there but the demands of the player were out of our reach. For Adeyemi the matter was different, he was not sure about coming here and so far we have only taken players who were convinced they wanted to play for Napoli. For Saint-Maximin, on the other hand, the problem è was bureaucratic, which was added to a demand that was too high from Al-Ahli, which owns his card".

He did not miss a stylistic jab at Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who was sold right in the winter session to PSG: "We thank Kvara for what he did in Naples, but we also have to say that as a club we tried to heal an issue that had opened in July. Until a few days before the sale we were still thinking about renewal, but then the will of the player prevailed. We were forced to sell him in January becauseé I don’t say we were blackmailed, but almost".

"In any case – Manna commented again – I spoke with Coach Conte: è it is clear that we are not happy about losing an important footballer but the group we have is working, the team è in first place in the standings and has already collected 54 points, we have a strong group".
