Sofia Goggia explains what was missing to get on the podium

Sofia Goggia just six hundredths off the podium
Ranking among the world’s top five is certainly not an achievement to be underestimated, but Sofia Goggia does not intend to hide her regret for a medal that escaped by just six hundredths in the World Super-G in Saalbach. The two ex-aequo bronze medalists, U.S. Lauren Macuga and Norway’s Kajsa Vickhoff Lie, finished their event in 1:20.71, while the Bergamasque registered a time of 1:20.77.
"Someone has to be at the foot of the podium and today è it was my turn – said Goggia, explaining what è was missing to get a medal -. I did a good race, a few imperfections here and there;, I think I gambled everything in the final jump, too far to the right. Also in the Panorama Sprung I jumped farther than I expected and then had to delay the next left turn".
"I’m sorry about those hundredths,” he then added, without mincing words: è exactly what I did in Schladming in 2013 when I had been fourth at my first world championship. A few imperfections here and there, in short: but from this race I take away the knowledge that I am competitive".
The downhill will offer" the next opportunity to get an important result: "The downhill will be" different from this Super-G – said the Bergamasque -: today there’was a nice snow to push. In the downhill I have many things to file, to revise. In the rehearsals I have not yet been able to get the line and the perfect skiing right. Downhill there’è a lot of room for smoothness, you need maximum sensitivityà".
"The favorites,” she further explained, “will be really all the girls who know how to slide the skis: the competition will be a lot, also becauseè there are few points where you can make a difference. I am very happy to be here today, in the condition I am in: if I think back to what there’è has been in these twelve years, I tell myself that the Sofia of 2013 had put herself on the line precisely to achieve and live this life. Then è it is clear that one always lives with an eye on the future and the most important race è always the next".
