A Paulo Dybala penalty is enough: Roma routs Venezia

A hard-earned but crucial victory.
Roma victorious again on the road, for the first time this Serie A season and for the first time in the league even since the spring of last year. Claudio Ranieri’s team è unblocked in Venice, picking up a very precious 1-0 thanks to a penalty converted by Paulo Dybala at 57'. Just enough to collect three points that are currently worth ninth place.
At the Penzo stadium we see a Roma that is careful, humble, but aware of what it needs: points, to be collected when needed in the most concrete way possible. And soì against a Venice embroiled in the lower reaches of the standings, the Giallorossi attack when they can, and for the rest try to take as few risks as possible.
The result is a first half in which Mancini, Dovbyk and Dybala go three times to the shot in the course of the same action, but Venezia is not standing idly by either: Yeboah calls for a penalty, then engages Svilar. On the other side Dovbyk exhilarates Radu, Cristante does not take advantage of a good chance and Mancini frames a great ball toward the goal that Nicolussi Caviglia saves on the line.
The pace in the resumption seemed to drop further, until Angelino forced a foul on Marcandalli in the Venice penalty area: è penalty, which Dybala converted, keeping his roster immaculate from the penalty spot since wearing the Roma jersey. From there on, Svilar avoids trouble on Fila, Mancini saves everything on Maric, and the Giallorossi in turn come close to doubling the score with Dovbyk and Celik. But the result does not change anymore.
