Larissa Iapichino one step closer to her record

Larissa Iapichino by record
Larissa Iapichino’s season gets off on the right foot. The vice-European long jump champion lands at 6.86 on the platform of Padua, on the last attempt in the debut competition, after already jumping 6.83 in the fourth round. A measurement that propels the Italian to third place on the world lists for the year, just eleven centimeters from her personal best. È an afternoon in crescendo for the 22-year-old of the Fiamme Oro: nil in the start, then 6.69 and 6.68, before increasing in the second half with a nil also in the fifth round.
From here starts again the path of the Florentine jumper, silver medalist at the European Championships in Rome and winner of the last edition of the Diamond League, who aims again at the podium in the continental indoor event in Apeldoorn (Netherlands, March 6-9) after the second place two years ago with 6.97.
“Very happy to be back competing – the words of Larissa Iapichino – becauseé it was not only a debut, but also the first time of the new 17-step run-up with a standing start. I had to find my measurements and I am really happy with this debut. I feel confident and am looking forward to competing at the Ancona Absolute on Feb. 22 and 23&rd”.
In second place improved Sofia Borello (Assindustria Sport) with 6.43, third Elisa Naldi (Carabinieri, 6.34). Also standing out on the day in Padua was the best Italian under-18 performance in the 3000 indoors by Alessandro Santangelo (Atl. Virtus Lucca) in 8:15.71 to take more than thirteen seconds off his chrono from’last year (8:29.05).
