Lazio overwhelms Monza, Cagliari knocks out Parma

Lazio-Monza 5-1 and Cagliari-Parma 2-1

Lazio overwhelms Monza in one of the two 3 p.m. Sunday matches of the 24th day of Serie A. At the Olimpico, in fact, it ended 5-1 for the biancocelesti who sent Marusic, Pedro (2), Castellanos and Dele-Bashiru into the goals. In the’other match three golden points for Cagliari, which knocked out Parma (2-1) at the’Unipol Domus in a very delicate salvation clash.

At the Stadio Olimpico, the hosts took the lead past the half-hour mark with a two-step header from Marusic. At the start of the second half, the Biancocelesti doubled with Pedro, masterfully imbued by Castellanos, who on 63' dropped the hat trick. At 77' Pedro signed his personal double, beating Pizzignacco again with his left. In the finale, the Brianzoli found the flagship goal with Sensi on a penalty kick, two minutes before Dele-Bashiru sealed the definitive 5-1.

At the Unipol Domus, it all happened in the second half: Cagliari went ahead at 57' thanks to an own goal by Vogliacco; at 70' the Rossoblù doubled with newcomer Coman with a nice shot from the limit. In the final Leoni halved the disadvantage but it was not enough to avoid defeat for the Ducals.

In the standings, Lazio returns to fourth place with 45 points, +2 on Juventus, while Monza remains at the tail end with 13 points. Cagliari’s important leap up momentarily to 13th place with 24 points, while Parma remains stuck at 20, in third'last position.
