A victory that represents the fifth career title for the pair.

Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori won the ATP 500 doubles tournament in Rotterdam, after victory over Sander Gille and Jan Zielinski came in about an hour and a half of play. The Azzurri won 6-2, 4-6, 10-6, confirming a stellar roster: thirteen matches won out of fourteen played since the beginning of the season.

The first set è a monologue of the blue pair, which already in the third game snatched the service from rivals repeating in the fifth. There'è no shock for Gille and Zielinski, who fail to react allowing Bolelli and Vavassori to keep the serve turns and close the accounts in less than half an hour.

The match reopened in the second set, which proceeded quickly and smoothly until 5-4 for Gille and Zielinski without a single break ball coming. The one in the tenth game then proves decisive, with Bolelli and Vavassori losing serve bringing the match back to even;.

It then closed point by point in the third set, with the Azzurri immediately building a road downhill. In fact, they run away on 5-2 and control the lead, never losing it again despite the opponents’ comeback attempt. By the time of 8-5, the outcome of the challenge seemed to be mapped out, and the accounts closed at 10-8.
