Vero Volleyball Milan seeks redemption against Imoco Conegliano'Imoco Conegliano
After the Italian Cup final played on Sunday in Casalecchio di Reno, the challenge between Imoco Conegliano, first in the standings and winner of the Italian Cup itself, and Vero Volley Milan, defeated 3-0 at the Unipol Arena and eager for revenge against the club that is dominating women's volleyball in Italy and abroad, is renewed also in the league.
Stafano Lavarini, coach of Vero Volleyball, has clear ideas: "It will be a different match from last Sunday’s Italian Cup final,” he said; è a championship match where we face the league leader in their home and where the points at stake are very important. We are making strides on the level of play and we will put on the field all the motivation necessary to face this kind of match".
The two teams, first and second in the league, are separated by 13 points: Imoco has collected 63 and has so far won all its matches without ever even going to the tie-break; Vero Volley è on the other hand, at 50, battling with Scandicci and Novara for second place. Just to the January 5 match against Novara dates back the last knockout for Paola Egonu and her teammates, defeated on the road 3-2.
The last head-to-heads speak of a Conegliano always able to win against the rivals rosablù to get to the last success of the latter we have to go to May 11, 2023, when in game-3 of the scudetto final Vero Volleyball managed to win 3-2 taking ahead in the series, before surrendering the last two matches and thus delivering the scudetto to the Venetian team.
