Women’s Combined: three-way race for gold, Italy already cut off

Combined women's team uphill for Italy
Italy doesn't shine in the women's combined downhill. Nicol Delago, Laura Pirovano and Elena Curtoni, in fact, failed to overturn the predictions and finished the event in 10th, 14th and 19th respectively, thus seeing their medal chances fade prematurely.
Triumphing è was Lauren Macuga of Team USA 2, who completed the downhill in 1:41.60, ahead of Germany's Emma Aicher and Austria's Mirjam Puchner distant 23 and 28 hundredths, respectively. At the foot of the podium was reigning downhill world champion Breezy Johnson.
Fifth place for Kira Weidle-Winkelmann of team Germany 2. Completing the top 10 are Austria 2 (Cornelia Huetter) and Austria 3 (Stephanie Venier), France 1 (Laura Gauche), Switzerland 2 (Corinne Sutter) and Italy 1 (Nicol Delago).
It will, now, be the slalom event that will determine who gets the gold medal between USA 2, Germany 1 and Austria 1. It will also try to get back into the medal round for USA 1, which will be able to count on Mikaela Shiffrin for the slalom event.
