Leonardo Pavoletti explains his love for Cagliari

Leonardo Pavoletti explained his love for Cagliari in a long interview with Radio Tv Serie A with RDS: "I thought from the beginning that being in Cagliari was like a gift. The first year was not è roses and flowers, although then we crowned it with other beautiful results such as salvation, forò I had not yet managed to enter well into the hearts of the Sardinians, both on and off the field. And it was a bit of a special thing because good or bad in my career, even when I didn&#39t play, I immediately managed to bond with the environment and the city; instead Cagliari studied me, wanted to understand what kind of man I was and then once I accepted è true love was born. They gave me all of themselves and I cannot do otherwise".

"Here there’è a perfect climate, the city è è very nice, you live well, people respect you – added l'rossoblù striker – and so è a really nice living and I really appreciate this, so many of my comrades appreciate it, even those who è left usually come back as soon as they canò, and so è a sign that è a unique place in my opinion. So many times they don&#39t talk about it in the rest of Italy, but Cagliari is slowly taking more and more space and people are realizing its true value, and so I am happy to live it and try to spread this message".

"I feel like one of them and I have started to think and live the city" like them. Definitely there'è a strong true Livornese part and I am very proud of that, forò I am becoming more and more Sardinian and so I like that too. The great thing about being here è that every day è a day where if there’è a problem, this is dealt with together, you look at each other, you talk to each other, and so this thing makes you human, you don&#39t feel like a player, and è what I have always been looking for and here I've found it".

Remembrance of Gigi Riva: "I want to remember the great Gigi, since we recently celebrated mass in his memory. To be compared to him gives pleasure but we must always be good with words. We are both strikers but of not quite the same level (laughs, ed.), forò in my opinion many things unite us: the love for Cagliari, the principles that we have recognized and found in this city; such as living the everyday, living as little as possible with the anxiety or frenzy of big cities. With Gigi Riva I share this, the possibility of living the everyday like a normal person: going to the bar, having a chat with your friend, these are things that in my opinion you cannot always buy with money, but you can only live them. È the beauty of simplicity ".

On the Ranieri-Nicola transition: "Coach Ranieri è he was fundamental, without him we would not be back where we are today. He gave and taught us so much, and the transition was not easy. Few people in my opinion could take his scepter, but also to have credibility, not only in our eyes but also in the eyes of the fans, and coach Davide Nicola in my opinion is really succeeding great. È a person of values, very simple, he looks you in the face and tells you what he thinks, then maybe he canò be right or not, forò he tells you by believing it and so that thing inside us did well, we breathed positive things right away and so we did not feel this detachment from Ranieri. The coach did not want to force the situation especially with those who had remained from last year and day after day he hit the target. Then he works very well, we are also getting along well in the type of work on the field and so there were various factors that made us say: 'We are in good hands again, let's follow him 100%'".

"Closing my career here in Cagliari è a’very real possibility. Signing a two-year contract at age 35, the prospect è that. I wouldn’t want to drag myself too far forward either. I accept the bench but not 100 percent, because è è normal: I am still a footballer and a footballer wants to play. I have to mediate between Società and the team, I do it willingly becauseé I understand that my role è that too. Forò I want to be a footballer, I feel like a footballer. And as long as I feel this fire… I still want to be a protagonist, I think I still have a lot to give on the field, even if my numbers are not what they used to be. The head, the hunger è always that. On the’other side forò I would not like to get to that point where you say “here there’è still Pavoletti”, here is a never weight. My personal goal è to win a few more  man of the match, at least one between now and the end of the season.  I want to be useful for the team: to take personal joys now and then would mean bringing joys to teammates. Becauseé most likely they would be important goals for our goal" concluded Pavoletti.
