Villarreal-Valencia, the probable formations

On the one hand Villarreal, which wants to strengthen its presence in the top five of La Liga, on the other a Valencia desperate for useful points to get out of the quagmire of the relegation zone. The challenge between the Yellow Submarine and the Blanquinegres looks very interesting, given the stakes on both sides of the standings.

Coming off three wins and a draw in the last four games played, Villarreal approaches Saturday night’s match with a few aches and pains: Akhomach and Pedraza are longtime stoppers, Gerard Moreno will miss his second game in a row while Kiko Femenia has not recovered from the back knock suffered against Las Palmas. In Marcelino’s 4-4-2, room for Ayoze Perez and Thierno Barry in attack, with Yeremy Pino and Alejandro Baena on the flanks.

There are two absentees, however, at Valencia: Thierry Correia è out for months now due to a knee injury, while Enzo Barrenechea pays for his yellow against Leganes with a disqualification for added cautions. To win a very rare second consecutive victory (at least this season), coach Corberan will bet on a 4-2-3-1, with Hugo Duro as the main attacking reference.

Probable lineups

Villarreal (4-4-2): Diego Conde; Pau Navarro, Foyth, Kambwala, Sergi Cardona; Yeremy Pino, Comesaña, Pape Gueye, Alejandro Baena; Ayoze Perez, Barry. All. Marcelino.

Valencia (4-2-3-1): Mamardashvili; Foulquier, Mosquera, Tarrega, Gayà Guerra, Pepelu; Diego Lopez, Almeida, Rioja; Duro. All. Corberan.
