Wawrinka vents after Jannik Sinner’s disqualification

After Nick Kyrgios, Stan Wawrinka also è vented about the three-month suspension imposed on Jannik Sinner over the Clostebol case. The world number one has reached an agreement with WADA whereby he will be suspended for three months, in which he will miss as many as four Masters 1000s, and will be able to return to the circuit at the Internazionali d'Italia.

The Swiss star, at the end of his two-set victory over Frenchman Arthur Cazaux in the first qualifying round of the Doha ATP 500, wrote on his 'X' profile: "I no longer believe…" in clean sport.

According to the WADA official statement, "Sinner will serve his period of ineligibility from Feb. 9, 2025 to 11:59 p.m. on May 4, 2025 (which includes credit for four days previously served by the athlete while on provisional suspension). Under Article 10.14.2 of the Code, Sinner can return to official training activities from April 13, 2025".

"This case has haunted me for almost a year, and the process could have gone on for much longer, with a decision perhaps only at the end of the year,” said Sinner. “I have always accepted responsibility for my team and recognize that WADA’s strict rules are an important protection for the sport I love. On this basis, I accepted WADA's offer to settle this matter with a 3-month sanction".
