A victory to enter history once more.

Mikaela Shiffrin once moreù into skiing history. The Colorado-born champion è won the Sestriere slalom thanks to a second run as an absolute superstar, managing to beat Zrinka Ljutic and Paula Moltzan. The most important aspect of the affair, however, è that this triumph coincides for her with success number 100 in her World Cup career.

A goal cut one step at a time, if you consider that Shiffrin had even missed the second run on Saturday. On Sunday forò the American built her great feat step by step, with a solid but not perfect first run. In the second, però, came the leap of the champion taking advantage of the uncertainties of the other candidates for victory. Including Ljutic, who from a 9-cent lead eventually found herself second at +0.61.

Not even 30 years old (she will turn them next March 13), Mikaela Shiffrin thus cements even more her legend in the long history of alpine skiing, closing a circle that she had opened back on December 20, 2012 with her Åre success (also in slalom), her first in the World Cup. More than 12 years ago. And with the great anxiety for his career, the result of the terrible accident in Killington, now definitely overcome and forgotten.

Shiffrin’s success in Sestriere obviously has no effect on the leadership of Federica Brignone, who remains at the top of the overall World Cup standings with her 999 points, chased in second place by Lara Gut-Behrami at 809. She climbs to 753 and is confirmed third by Croatia’s Zrinka Ljutic.
