Marotta’s words

Inter Milan president Beppe Marotta spoke during the conference "Constitution and Sport: less bureaucracy to improve the quality of life and foster social and economic growth". in the headquarters of the Lombardy Region.

"The real problem today, beyondà deficient structures, for young people are the excessive expectations of parents. What we have to convey è is precisely sports education. When you speak as president of Inter, you are talking about a team that wins, loses, and participates in many competitions. But not everyone thinks about the social value of the club, since we have about 700 members among all the various teams. We have to guide these kids on a path of growth, working on parents who place excessive expectations".

"In some cases we are like parents, becauseé è delicate approach to these kids. In a club like Inter then there's a very strict selection, but without losing the goal that sport is a gym of life", he added.

"Our Constitution recognizes the educational value of sports, but it must then be put into practice. Once there was the entrepreneur, even local, who ran a club, today in Serie A 12 clubs are foreign-owned and less bad I would say. Today the real problem is the facilities, we as Serie A with 1.2 billion that we pay to the treasury are among the biggest taxpayers, and then a defiscalization for those who invest in sports could help to equip themselves with facilities to also be an attractive hub for young people", he concluded.
