Roger Federer’s former coach goes down hard on Jannik Sinner’s disqualification

Severin Luthi sides with Jannik Sinner
During an interview given to the microphones of the "Corriere del Ticino", Roger Federer's former coach Severin Luthi, among other topics, wanted to provide his opinion regarding Jannik Sinner's three-month disqualification in the Clostebol case.
"I really admire Jannik for how he has been able to mentally handle 2024 and these first months of 2025. He did it like a true number one. He's a player who deserves all the respect. I align myself with those who said that his è a case a thousand miles away from doping. I prefer, però not to comment on the decisions of the bodies that have disucussed the issue" began the Swiss Davis Cup captain.
"Perhaps Djokovic is also partly right, who expressed doubts and perplexityà about the handling of the Sinner case. There is probably a lack of clear regulations. But, I repeat, I prefer not to go into this very delicate and hostile subject. Especially in the field of ointments and painkillers. In this sense, I like to mention that Roger himself, in his career, always paid close attention to the prescription of medicines. Unfortunately, even simple distractions can cost dearly" added Federer's former coach.
"Tennis is going through a phase of change. Federer and Nadal have ended their careers. Andy Murray also and is now working with Djokovic with the goal of helping him return to the top. Now è it is inevitable that the spotlight is mainly on Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev and I think it is right soì" concluded Severin Luthi.
