Juventus breaks through Verona’s wall and takes back fourth place

Juventus struggled more than expected, but brought home the three points against Hellas Verona in the final match of the 27th day of Serie A. At the Allianz Stadium, in fact, the Bianconeri won over the Scaligeri thanks to goals by Thuram and Koopmeiners, centering their fifth consecutive success.

The match began immediately with a double danger for the hosts, with Di Gregorio who è good at closing the goal mirror first to Suslov and then to Sarr. On 14’ came Juventus’ answer with Thuram who was stopped by a super intervention by Montipò.

At 36’ the Bianconeri managed to find the lead with a header by McKennie on the development of a spot kick. The’referee, however, canceled the goal due to a charge by Kelly on Montipò. At the end of the first half, after two more super interventions by the Scaligeri extreme defender, Juventus is saved from offside: Faraoni serves Suslov who, from the distance, hits the cross of the posts, but the referee cancels everything for offside of the side of the Venetians at the moment of the assist.

In the second half, è again Montipò kept Verona afloat thanks to two more super interventions first on Kolo Muani then on Nico Gonzalez. At 72’, however, the Scaligeri’s wall collapsed: Locatelli served Cambiaso on the left, who put in a tow for Thuram who fulminated with power the Giallobl&ugrave’s extreme defender.

After the round of changes, Verona threw itself forward in search of an equalizer, making itself vulnerable to the Bianconeri’s restarts. In the midst of the recovery, in fact, Thiago Motta’s team found the goal of safety with Koopmeiners, who from the right left pierced Montipò with a precise diagonal.

Thanks to this success, Juventus not only places the counter-overshoot against Lazio, but also moves to -6 from the leader Inter's side. Verona, on the other hand, remains stuck at 26 points with only four points ahead of the relegation zone.
