The dark period seems to be behind him for Matteo Berrettini, who not only contributed to Italy&#39s success in the Davis Cup in 2024, confirming the title won without him the year before, but also collected excellent results at the beginning of 2025 and, although he has not yet won a tournament, he è reappeared in the world Top 30 on the eve of the first Masters 1000 of the season, the one in Indian Wells.

The Roman tennis player arrives from the Doha and Dubai tournaments on the strength of qualification, in both, to the quarterfinals, thanks in part to prestigious successes such as the one over Novak Djokovic in Qatar. In the last tournament played, however, Berrettini è faced another reborn tennis player, Stefanos Tsitsipas, who defeated him in three sets before flying to his first title in almost a year.

It is precisely against the Greek that the big rematch on the American cement could take place.

Both Berrettini and Tsitsipas, seeded No. 28 and No. 8, respectively, have gained direct access to the second round and, should both win, would face each other in the third in a no-holds-barred challenge.

Berrettini certainly ponders redemption against the Greek, but first there will be a match to be played for both: the Roman will face the winner of the first-round match between Roberto Carballes Baena and Christopher O'Connell, while Tsitsipas will face the winner of the match between Thiago Seyboth Wild and Alexandre Muller.
