Sofia Goggia makes 200 in World Cup

The giant slalom on Saturday, March 8, on the snows of Are, Sweden, will not be a race like any other for Sofia Goggia: in fact, the champion from Bergamo will cut an important milestone and she will do it simply by showing up at the starting gate, since her next race will be number 200 in the World Cup.

"We are charged – explained the Bergamasque, who in addition to the excitement for yet another milestone in her career wants to focus on improvements in the giant -, we come from a very intense Norwegian weekend dedicated to speed, in which I skied well and took good placings, there are still many races starting with this giant in which I want to continue my path of growth in the specialty".

Aware of her limitations in the giant slalom, Goggia has a name for everyone when it comes to favorites for this race and, more generally, for the season finale: "Brignone is literally scary for the way she is skiing – she said -, when we get to the end of the season we are always a bit’ more’ tired, what allows us to stay on the piece is motivation and those goals we set to achieve".

Class of 1992, Sofia Goggia started the 2024-2025 season later than her opponents, having to recover from the bad injury she suffered last year. She won six podiums this year: two victories, in Beaver Creek on Dec. 15 in Super-G, and in Cortina on Jan. 18 in downhill, as well as two second and as many third places.
