Jannik Sinner joins Ilie Nastase

Even without playing, Jannik Sinner continues to break records. Awaiting his return from his disqualification for the Clostebol case, scheduled for the Internazionali d'Italia, the South Tyrolean has reached a major new milestone: 40 weeks at the top of the ATP ranking.

Thanks to this achievement, the world number one equaled Ilie Nastase, who è been at the top of the world ranking for 40 weeks. The Italian, together with the former Romanian tennis player, now occupies the 15th position in the All-time ranking linked to players with the most weeks at the top of the ATP ranking.

Jannik Sinner now has in his sights Andy Murray, world number one for 41 weeks and, currently, ranked 14th in this special ranking, and Gustavo Kuerten, at the top of the world ranking for 43 weeks, and, currently, 13th.

With 11330 points the Italian still has a remarkable lead over his pursuers in the ATP ranking. Behind him are Alexander Zverev (8135), who was resoundingly eliminated in the first round in Indian Wells, and Carlos Alcaraz (7510), who is engaged with Denis Shapovalov in the round of 16 at the Masters 1000 in California.
