Ferrari never in the race for the lead, many problems on the track

There was much anticipation for Ferrari’s first race of the season. In Melbourne, the Cavallino largely disappointed with Leclerc eighth and Hamilton tenth at the finish (overtaken by Piastri on the last lap). So many mistakes were made, especially in terms of strategy. Also worrying is the gap, performance-wise, from McLaren.

"Definitely, we could have done better. When the rain è arrived for the last time, Verstappen made the right move, entering a lap earlier. Difficult to bring home something positive from this race. The strategy in the race was not è good, let’s think about the next one. I don’t know if we did everything wrong here in Melbourne. The only positive side maybe the race pace that did not look bad", the words of the team principal of the Rossa Vasseur.

Definitely dark in the face Leclerc: "It è was not a good race. Before we talk about strategies, I have to say that the’biggest mistakeè was my mistake at 11, where I lost 4/5 positions… I have nothing to add", the comment, hot off the press, of the Monegasque to Sky Sport.

Leclerc himself hopes for a quick redemption: "As the first race, I expected much better. The important thing is to react immediately. Fortunately, in a few days we will still be on track. The Chinese GP did not bring us well last year but è a real track. We will work to try to do well", the Cavallino driver’s closing remark.
