Novara one step away from triumph in CEV Cup

Igor Gorgonzola Novara continues its march in Europe by placing an important 3-1 in the CEV Cup first leg final against CS Volei Alba Blaj, imposing itself with the partials of 25-12, 25-20, 20-25, 25-17. It was a show of strength for the Piedmontese women, who were able to react with character after the deadlocked passage in the third set, closing the file in four partials and thus giving themselves the chance, next Tuesday, April 1 (6 p.m.) in Romania, to raise the trophy by winning two sets.
The match opened with total domination of the hosts, who started with a relentless pace and annihilated their opponents in the first set with a clear 25-12. Alba Blaj tried to get back into the match in the second set, but Igor handled with maturity and won 25-20. The Romanian reaction came in the third set, where they took advantage of a few too many Novara errors and shortened the distance with the score 20-25. However, Coach Bernardi’s team is not intimidated and regains brilliance in the fourth set, closing with an authoritative 25-17.
The absolute protagonist of the match was opposing player Tatiana Tolok, who scored 22 points, being instrumental in both attack and wall. Her performance was enhanced by 5 walls and 2 aces. Alongside her, excellent performances also came from Alsmeier (16 points) and Ishikawa (11).
