Civitanova closes series with Milan and joins Perugia in Scudetto semifinals

Cucine Lube Civitanova made no mistake in game 4 and closed the series with Allianz Milano. The team coached by Giampaolo Medei, in fact, managed to conquer, on the road, the meneghini in a comeback with a score of 25-17 17-25 25-20 25-22, thus securing the pass to the Scudetto semifinals for the 20th time in history.
In the first set, the Marche team immediately ran away in the score on’11-5 thanks to the play of Lagumdzija and Bottolo. Milan tried to come back, but Civitanova stretched further until the final 25-17.
Also in the second act, it is Lube that puts the arrow, but the meneghini do not give up and thanks to a 6-0 partial in the middle part they manage first to place the counter-break and then maintain the lead until the final 25-17, which brings the match back to a tie.
In the third set it was once again Civitanova that found the first stretch on’11-8. At that point, the Marches are good at containing Milan’s comeback attempts and run away in the final phase, winning the partial set on 25-20.
The fourth set is a close one.
In the fourth set, it was the hosts who found the first break at 9-7. Medei’s men, however, did not give up and first found parity on 13-13, then pulled ahead on 16-14. At that point, the match continued point-to-point, with Lube managing to maintain the small lead until the final 25-22.
In the semifinals, Civitanova will face Perugia. Qualifying among the best four in the SuperLega playoffs, in addition, allowed the red-and-whites to secure a pass for the European Cups next season.
