Jasmine Paolini takes example from Jannik Sinner

Here are Jasmine Paolini’s words after her beautiful victory over Poland’s Magda Linette that earned her access to the semifinals of the Miami Open for the first time. The 29-year-old Tuscan from Bagni di Lucca also spoke about Jannik Sinner and the example he is setting for her.
“It’s great, definitely I’m very happy. It was a really good match, I enjoyed being on the court and I’m happy with the result I got.
“Sometimes I was ahead 30-0 and then I was down 30-40, so I just tried to save break balls. It’s very important on these fast courts to serve better on the important points, but in some cases I have to be more consistent when I’m serving.”
“I think Jannik helps a lot. It helps us a lot, we have the No. 1 in the world, it’s incredible for Italy. I think tennis is growing a lot. I think we are believing a lot that we can make great results because we see other tennis players making them. We are a great team. It was nice because during the warm-up Lorenzo and Matteo were also around there.”
“I don’t think I played bad this season. I didn’t get great results, but I was here. I lost a lot of matches, but against great opponents. It was difficult, but at the same time I repeated to myself that I was always there. Maybe I just needed some consistency and maybe it came here. Winning matches clearly helps a lot. I’m happy to have made the semifinals here.”
“I played my three matches all at 11 a.m. With Linette it was very humid and played late, so I felt the balls were bigger and heavier. I just tried to hit well and not make too many errors, it worked. She definitely played well with Gauff, but for me in this match there were more difficult conditions.”
