Slalom: Shiffrin triumphs in Sun Valley, to'Italy the Cup for nations

Mikaela Shiffrin dominates the’last slalom of the season in front of her own audience in Sun Valley, clinching victory number 101 of her women’s World Cup career, but it is Croatia’s Zrinka Ljutic, only 20 years old, who wins the specialty cup for the first time.
The 30-year-old from the United States finished the old-fashioned way, with a time of 1’45″92, 1″13 ahead of runner-up Lena Duerr from Germany, just one hundredth better than Andreja Slokar from Slovenia, who finished third. The score that awards the specialty cup is 541 points for Ljutic, ahead of Katharina Liensberger’s 509 and Camille Rast’s 492.
For Italy only 18th Lara Della Mea, who recovered a couple of positions in the second run, but did not score any points. She had instead gone out in the first run Martina Peterlini.
Italy wins the women’s nation cup with 4256 points, compared to Switzerland’s 4128 and Austria’s 3492.
