It was the last trophy she was missing, and today it arrived on the snows of St.Moritz: Michela Moioli is the new Snowboard Cross world champion, a title chased for years that seemed never to come. The’Army athlete still doesn&#8217t seem to believe it, commenting on the feat on the Swiss track on the sidelines of the podium awards ceremony.

“I have no words – began the 29-year-old – . It was something that was missing, it seemed like a taboo. It has been difficult months this winter but today’s gold changes everything, it gives a turn to the season and to my smile. It was needed, it was so needed. For me and for the whole team: it has been a challenging season and we wanted to put everything on this race. I tried to do my best and I’m so happy. I still don”t realize I”m world champion, it”s something I”ve been missing and … now I”m happy.

He has no doubts about the magnitude of today&#8217s result, Italy&#8217s technical director, Cesare Pisoni: “It&#8217s the greatest world championship for Italy in the history of snowboarding: Michela collected her third gold after those that came in the parallel. She’managed to win a gold in a season that seemed difficult: she is number one in the world, and she proved it today, despite difficulties and injuries, despite pneumonia in recent weeks. She’s world champion: a great credit to her and to all our staff”.

Born in Alzano Lombardo on July 17, 1995, Michela Moioli has collected in her career such important results as the Olympic gold in snowboard cross in Pyeongchang 2018 and team silver in Beijing 2022, also winning the SBX World Cup overall standings three times (2016, 2018 and 2020) and seven world medals overall: three silver and as many bronze between 2015 and 2021, before the most precious one, won today.
