Salvation blow for Brescia: Spezia narrowly knocked out

The 31st day of Serie B opened with Brescia’s external success over Spezia. At the Alberto Picco stadium, in fact, the Leonessa obtained three key points in view of salvation thanks to the goal scored in the first minutes of the match by Borrelli.

Ready off and Brescia immediately found the goal of the lead at 4′: Papetti, from the right, crosses in the middle for Borrelli, who beats Chichizola with his header, slipping the ball into the net.

Wounded by the disadvantage, Spezia threw itself forward in search of an equalizer, but to go closest to scoring was again the visiting team, with Borrelli, who was denied the double by a splendid reflex of the Aquilotti’s extreme defender.

In the resumption, also accomplice to the changes at the’halftime, it is the hosts who create the best goal chances, but without being able to materialize. On 73′ however, comes the turning point in the negative for the men coached by Luca D’Angelo, as Cassata gets two yellows in three minutes, thus leaving his team in ten for the last third of the match.

A few minutes later, Pio Esposito showed up, dribbling past Adorni and finishing with his left footer, finding an excellent response from Lezzerini with his feet. Bolstered by the extra man, Brescia managed to manage the pace in the finale, even going close to the safety goal.

Thanks to this success, the Leonessa moves to 34 points with a 2-point lead over the play-out zone. Conversely, Spezia remains stuck in third place with 55 points, thus failing the’opportunity to move closer to Sassuolo and Pisa.
