Varese basketball, there's a new wing for Giannis Kastritis

Grant Anticevich is a new player of Varese Basketball. Through an official statement, the red and white club announced the arrival of the class ’98 wing, 203 cm by 104 kg, who will be available to coach Giannis Kastritis starting Monday.

“Pallacanestro Varese is pleased to announce the agreement with Grant Anticevich, an Australian forward of Croatian passport who will join coach Kastritis’ roster for this final season” is what can be read in the official note of the Lombard club.

Born in Sydney on April 14, 1998, Anticevich at age 19 moved to the United States to attend Berkeley, Calif. There he plays for the Golden Bears, a lineup with which he improves his numbers year after year until the 2021-2022 season, which he closes by averaging 9.7 points and 6.8 rebounds in 32 games.

The following year, he starts in the Golden Bears.

The following year he began his professional career in Australia where he signed for South East Melbourne Phoenix, except to finish the season in New Zealand, at the Southland Sharks, a team with which he totaled 14.6 points and 9.7 rebounds per shoelace.

In 2023-2024, he moved to Germany in the ranks of Göttingen; his impact with European basketball was positive (7.8 points and 5.1 rebounds in the Bundesliga) and also allowed him to try his hand at the FIBA Europe Cup (9.1 points and 6.3 rebounds), a competition in which he got to face Varese itself during the Regular Season. This year he played in the Australian league with the New Zealand Breakers.
