After as many as nine consecutive knockouts, Virtus Bologna regained victory in the Euroleague. On the court of the tail-end Alba Berlin, in fact, the Felsinians won with a clear 108 to 64, after a game dominated from start to finish.

After a point-to-point start, it was the Emilian team that placed the first stretch on 13-7. The German team, for its part, managed to come back down to -1, but the Felsinians found another seven-point-zero partial, which allowed the Black Vu to close the first quarter on top 27-15.

The first quarter was dominated by the German team.

In the second quarter, the gap between the two teams opens even wider, with the guests touching +20, thanks to baskets by Polonara, Belinelli and Clyburn. It goes to’halftime on 62 to 33.

In the third quarter, Virtus gives the decisive shoulder to the match reaching even the 40-point lead, with Berlin unable to find any countermeasure.

In the fourth and final period, aided by the wide gap between the two teams, both coaches emptied their benches and it came to the final buzzer with a score of 108 to 64 for the Black Vu, ending a string of nine consecutive Euroleague defeats.

At the end of the match, Virtus Bologna head coach Dusko Ivanovic hotly analyzed the performance of his boys: “We showed a whole different face than the bad performance in Belgrade. We had good defense and good offense. Alba had won in Bologna in the first game. it was one of the problems that has been troubling us all season. We knew what we had to do

.

“We showed a whole other face than the bad performance in Belgrade, of course the other side must not have been very happy about it. We put pressure on the ball, you have to start from that. We had a good defense and a good offense. Playing like that made it easier for us to bring home the win. Sometimes it happens that we have difficult days, however, the players have to understand that they are the ones who win the games and not the tactics. You have to work hard, playing aggressively for 40′ just like we did today. It all starts from the defense”.
