Novara breaks Conegliano's unbeaten streak and reopens Scudetto semifinal

Conegliano’s unbeaten streak comes to an end after as many as 50 matches. In Game 2 of the Scudetto semifinals, in fact, the Venetian battleship was overwhelmed with a clean 3-0 (25-19; 25-20; 25-23) by Novara, which brought the series to a 1-1 tie.
In the first set it was Igor that put the arrow in thanks to Tolok’s plays and excellent defense by Alsmeier and Bonifacio. Conegliano, for its part, manages to come back up to -2, but in the climax Novara finds another partial and closes the score at 25-19 thanks to a wall by Aleksic on Gabi.
The second set was also a good one.
The second set also developed like the first, with the hosts managing to find the’stretch in the middle section on 17-14. Precise attacks by Tolok and a few too many errors by the “Panthers” then paved the way for the girls coached by Lorenzo Bernardi, who won the partial set 25-20.
The second set was the same as the first.
In the third set it was the Veneto team that got off to a better start and flew away in the score on 12-9. Boosted by the PalaIgor, however, Novara did not give up and first sewed up the gap then stretched to 20-15. Conegliano, with its back against the wall, tried everything to get as close as -2, but the Piedmontese team was adept at maintaining that small lead until the 25-23 final.
MVP of the evening was undoubtedly Tatiana Tolok, scorer of 26 points. Good performances also for Lina Alsmeier and Mayu Ishikawa with 12 points each. Among Conegliano’s ranks, 20 points from opposite player Isabelle Haak were not enough.
