With a net 5-1 inflicted on Reggiana in one of the cadetteria’s derbies of Emilia, Sassuolo is inching closer to returning to Serie A after a single season of purgatory. The success is a response to the 3-0 infliction a few hours earlier by Pisa on Cosenza in an away match, but more importantly it is worth three more points than Spezia, defeated Friday night by Brescia 1-0.

At the Mapei Stadium, home facility for both the neroverdi and, of course, the Reggio Emilia granata, it was actually the latter who took the lead, on 3′, with Vergara. From there on, however, Sassuolo was unleashed, scoring with Mulattieri on 15′, completing the comeback thanks to Reinhart’s own goal on 18′ and extending with Laurienté on 35′, Boloca on 38′ and Verdi on a penalty kick on 86’86’.

The Sassuolo, however, did not score.

Pisa, on the other hand, got the better of a nervous Cosenza: Moreo at 23′ and Touré at 30′ signed the first two Nerazzurri goals, on the other hand Sgarbi and Martino got themselves expelled within a few minutes (at 36′ the first, at 41′ the second) and Micai′ s own goal at 43′ closed the accounts for good. Thus, in the standings, Sassuolo has 72 points, Pisa 63 and Spezia 55, with 21 points still to be awarded.

Of Saturday’s other matches, Sampdoria’s domestic thud, overwhelmed at home by Frosinone, stands out: after missing a penalty with Coda at 38′, at 0-0, the blucerchiati disappeared from the field and the gialloazzurri took advantage by scoring with Koné at 55′, Monterisi at 70′ and Ghedjemis at’85’, for the final 3-0 that plunges Samp into the nightmare: a Salernitana success against Palermo on Sunday would mean relegation zone for Doria.

Exciting draw in Cremona, with Cittadella going ahead 2-0 with Okwonkwo at 38′ and Rabbi at 46′, but being caught up by an indomitable Cremonese, which shortened with Valoti at 73′ and equalized three minutes later with Pickel: 2-2 the final result. Catanzaro dreams of a comeback but ends up defeated: in Modena, the Canarini go ahead at 33′ with Magnino, Iemmello equalizes at 62′ but Gliozzi makes it 2-1 at 67′ and the result will not change anymore.

On the right side of the standings, important success of Mantua, which beats Sudtirol 2-0: Mensah at’11’ and Radaelli at 41′, close the file. The Virgilians thus try to get out of the playout zone while waiting for tomorrow&#8217s matches: on the field, Sunday, Carrarese-Bari, Cesena-Juve Stabia and Salernitana-Palermo, three challenges that promise to be intense.
