Fabio Capello bluntly on Milan and Conceiçao

Fabio Capello to Gazzetta dello Sport spoke ahead of the Coppa Italia derby between Inter and Milan: “On paper it is hard to believe in a surprise, after seeing Inter’s first half with Udinese and Milan&#8217s first half in Naples. Here, if the two teams were to repeat the 45 minutes seen yesterday I find it hard to think there is a match. But back to the usual talk, derbies are matches in themselves”.

The Diavolo is at the’last resort of a failing season: “For Conceiçao and his men, one can almost go so far as to say that the Coppa Italia is now the only way to clinch qualification for Europe. And not seeing Milan play an international competition next year would hurt a lot”.

Capello talks about an Milan team “scandalous in the first half in Naples. I then did not understand Conceiçao’s choices: Joao Felix starting, against a running opponent like Napoli, and Leao out. Mah… Rafa then entered well, undoubtedly. Leao has something more, then of course he always lacks continuity. If he had it maybe he would not be in this Milan…”.

Conceiçao has failed to turn around after Fonseca: “Milan has improved very little in the defensive phase. Also, I wonder: what happened to Tomori? Disappeared”.
