Fabio Fognini already out in Marrakech, passes Raphael Collignon

It’s lasted an hour and fifteen minutes Fabio Fognini’s adventure at the Marrakech ATP 250. The Italian tennis player, in fact, was defeated in his debut by Belgium’s Raphael Collignon with a score of 6-3 6-3, after a match heavily conditioned by the Ligurian’s ankle injury suffered during the second set.
The match started immediately uphill for Fognini, who in addition to committing as many as three double faults immediately lost his serve in the opening set. Collignon, for his part, first confirmed his lead, then increased it in the ninth game by finding the second break of the set, which also earned him the first partial with a score of 6-3.
In the second set, it is the Ligurian tennis player who finds the first stretch in the opening game’the opening game. In the second game, however, comes the episode that changes the balance of the match: in the’approach to the net for a volley, Fabio badly rests his left foot and hurts his ankle. After the medical time-out, the Italian player re-enters the court with a conspicuous bandage. Collignon, for his part, immediately takes advantage of Fognini’s less-than-perfect condition to turn the match around. The San Remo native tried to clench his teeth, but the Belgian did not forgive and with another three-games-to-zero partial to close the score at 6-3.
For Fabio Fognini this is the fifth knockout in six matches played this season. The 1987 class, in addition, is still looking for his first win of the season on the major circuit.
