Bologna, Calabria stops: recovery time

Bad news for Bologna and Davide Calabria. The right-back, who arrived from AC Milan last season, suffered an injury to his left ankle during the Coppa Italia semi-final first leg against Empoli. This injury forced him to leave the field at 66′ to make way for Holm. The former AC Milan captain, who is trying to establish himself in his new experience in Emilia, will have to stop for at least three weeks because of a sprained ankle.
The Rossoblù club confirmed the’extent of the injury through an official statement. The Emilian club specified that the tests the player underwent confirmed the sprain. Calabria, therefore, will have to observe a period of forced rest and will miss some matches for Bologna. The Rossoblù are trying to reach fourth place in the standings and are strongly aiming for the final of the Coppa Italia. In fact, the defender will have to miss commitments against Napoli, Atalanta and Inter in the league. As well as the return leg of the Coppa Italia semifinal against Empoli.
The prediction of doctors is that Calabria could be back at the disposal of coach Vincenzo Italiano between the end of April and the’beginning of May. This means the full-back could make his return in the league match against Parma. The challenge with the Ducali is scheduled for April 24. Or, more likely, in the one against Juventus on May 4. However, his absence in the coming weeks is a blow to Bologna, which will have to do without one of its most experienced and reliable elements in the race for a place in Europe.
Bologna, therefore, will have to adapt to Calabria’s absence. The Rossoblù team hopes to be able to maintain its competitiveness even without his contribution, while Calabria will do everything possible to recover as soon as possible and return to the field ahead of the still busy end of the season.
