Premier League 2024-2025: Chelsea-Tottenham, the likely lineups

Thursday, April 3 at 9 p.m. at London’s Stamford Bridge stadium will stage the London derby between Chelsea and Tottenham. Maresca’s Chelsea comes to the challenge against the Spurs with 49 points in 29 days. The Blues are currently sixth in the Premier League at minus two from the Champions League zone. The last league game Chelsea lost to Arteta’s Arsenal 1-0.

Postecoglu’s Tottenham, on the other hand, is living a completely different period. Currently the Spurs are 14th in the league with only 34 points in 29 games played. Tottenham’s last Premier League game ended with the Spurs losing 2-0 at Fulham’s away ground.

The Spurs are in a different league.

Chelsea is expected to line up with the classic 4-2-3-1. In goal, there will be goalkeeper Sanchez,. The defense will be formed by a solid four-man line, with Fofana and Badiashile in the center, protecting the goal, and Cucurella and Colwill on the flanks, ready to push in attack but also to cover opposing forays. In the midfield, the dual roles of protection and construction will be given to Reece James and Caicedo. Supporting the attack will be three players of great quality and vision: Sancho, Enzo Fernandez and Nkunku. Finally, in attack, the reference will be Portuguese Neto, formerly of Lazio.

Tottenham, under Postecoglou, will most likely respond to Chelsea with a very balanced and dynamic 4-3-3. In goal, Vicario will be called upon for delicate tasks, but he will be able to count on a solid defense in front of him. Spence, Romero, Davies and Udogie will make up the defensive line, with Spence and Udogie having the freedom to push on the flanks in addition to defending. In midfield, the trio Bentancur, Gray and Bissouma will be tasked with providing balance and fluidity. In the offensive trident, Johnson and Tel will act on the outsides, ready to use their speed and technique to leapfrog and create chances.
