This is the comment of Ferrari’s British seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton after Friday’s Japan GP at Suzuka Circuit: “Overall it was a good day. This track is unbelievable and the first sector is fantastic and now you can really push it, especially thanks to the new asphalt.”

“In the first session the balance of the car was not perfect, but we made great progress in the second session and I am happy with the direction we have taken. There’s still some work to be done tonight and, with the weather set to change, we will have to stay focused, but we are in a good position and I am curious to see what we can do tomorrow” Hamilton concluded.

He is echoed by his teammate Charles Leclerc: “We tried different set-ups during the two practice sessions and I feel like I learned a lot about our car and how we can extract the most out of it. We weren’t able to put it all together, due to several red flags and traffic that compromised the second session.”

“However, I think our performance is better than it looks on paper right now. It will be interesting to see how the change in weather conditions, particularly with regard to wind direction, will affect tomorrow”s sessions.
