Genoa’s salvation spurt: Udinese beaten with a thrill

The 31st round of Serie A opened with a thrill success for Genoa against Udinese’Udinese. After finding the go-ahead goal through Zanoli, in fact, the Rossoblù were saved by VAR in the midst of recovery, which cancelled out for offside the equalizer goal found by the Friulans.

In the first third of the match it was the hosts who made themselves more dangerous, but without managing to be sufficiently concrete. At 37′, after suffering for most of the half, the guests find the goal of the lead with Lucca, but the VAR cancels everything due to a foul by the Italian center forward against De Winter.

The resumption opens with a very tempting chance missed by Lucca, who from two steps at the second post fails to divert Atta’s excellent invitation into the net. After the pinwheel of changes, Genoa also managed to make up ground, which materialized its best moment at 77′ with Frendrup who crossed into the middle finding Okoye’s rebound. After a VAR consultation, however, the referee cancels the goal for offside by the’former Pisa striker, thus allowing the Rossoblù fans to return to rejoice.

Thanks to this success, Genoa moved to 38 points, 15 points ahead of the relegation zone. Udinese, on the other hand, remains stuck at 40, running into its third consecutive knockout.
