Anna Kalinskaya must make a choice

Anna Kalinskaya showed signs of revival after a difficult start to 2025. First in Miami, then in Charleston with a thrilling victory over world No. 5 Madison Keys, the Russian tennis player took the first steps to turn in the season. The Muscovite, eliminated in the quarterfinals by Sofia Kenin, must now decide her next commitments.
The next scheduled tournament is the WTA 500 in Stuttgart, which will start on April 14.
Last season Kalinskaya was eliminated in the qualifying round by our Sara Errani. At the moment Anna is not yet on the entry list: she may decide to stay longer in Miami and return to the court for the WTA 1000 in Madrid, starting a week later in Spain.
The Muscovite, who has never particularly excelled on clay, last season went out straight away in her debut in Spain. Thanks to her victory over Keys, Kalinskaya has climbed back to 31st place in the WTA rankings.
“This win is special – she had said after the success against the American -. I needed it for my confidence. I had an unlucky and difficult start of the year. It feels good to be back playing at such a high level”.
