Lorenzo Musetti is self-critical. And he brings up Tadej Pogacar.

He suffered more than expected Lorenzo Musetti in his debut match at the Monte Carlo Masters 1000. The Italian tennis player, in fact, bent in three sets the Chinese Yunchaokete Bu, after two hours and forty minutes of play. Speaking at a press conference, the Carrara native bluntly analyzed his performance.
“I did not express my best tennis. I struggled a lot especially with the forehand, I think it was also felt on the court, that I was complaining and I couldn’t turn the ball as much as I should or wanted to. No doubt that was something that bothered me and led me to be in too much of a hurry at the’beginning of the match. Then, however, I was good at staying there and turning around a match that was not easy, but if I want to move forward I have to increase the level of my tennis” began the Italian tennis player.
“In the last few days it has never been as cold as the temperature. The conditions made the ball even harder to hit. It was not easy to create the trajectories and spins I like on this surface and generate winners. Ours is a sport of adaptation so I was good at it and won the match” added the Carrara native.
“At one point in the match I realized that there was Tadej Pogacar in the stands. He is a great example of struggle and effort. Maybe he gave me the extra push to come back since he came right when I was able to place the break in the second set. Maybe it is also a little bit’ thanks to him that I was able to win” Lorenzo Musetti commented.
