After beating Jiri Lehecka in a comeback, Lorenzo Musetti earned himself access to the round of 16 of the Masters 1000 in Monte Carlo where he will face his friend and compatriot Matteo Berrettini, who managed the feat of eliminating world number two Alexander Zverev.

The Carrara player spoke about the Italian derby to the microphones of Sky Sport: “Matteo is a friend, a teammate with whom I shared many emotions, such as winning the Davis Cup. It will be a special match, not easy, but the goal is to win”.

“If I want to fight for the tournament I will have to raise the level, but the fighting spirit of these matches is a positive point from which to start” concluded Musetti, who reached the round of 16 in the Principality for the fourth time in five participations.

The match between Musetti and Berrettini is the third match scheduled Thursday on center court at the ‘Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters’ following those between Draper and Davidovich Fokina, which will begin at 11 a.m., and Alcaraz and Altmaier.
