Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori walked out of the first round of the Monte Carlo Masters 1000. The Italian pair, which started with the favorable odds, was defeated in a surprise defeat by the Bopanna/Shelton duo (6-2 6-7 7-10).

Everything easy in the first set for Bolelli/Vavassori, who flew to 3-0 in a flash and repeated the break lead in the eighth game that coincided with the conquest of the first partial (6-2) after just 28 minutes of play.

The script seemed not to change in the second set as well, with the Blue quickly rising to 4-1. Here, however, comes the reaction of the Indo-American pair that recovers the break disadvantage (4-4) and drags the set to the tie-break, winning it by 7 points to 4.

The super tie-break was played in the second set.

The super tie-break starts badly for Bolelli/Vavassori, who find themselves down 0-4 in no time. Thanks to two winners, however, the Italian pair came back under (5-5) but a Vavassori flight error on 7-7 paved the way for Shelton/Bopanna who closed 10-7.
