In Monte Carlo, Lorenzo Musetti wins derby with Matteo Berrettini

In the all-Blue derby of the round of 16 of the Monte Carlo Masters 1000 Lorenzo Musetti, world number 18, beat Matteo Berrettini, number 34, with a score of 6-3 6-3, and lands for the second time in the quarterfinals of the Principality, where he will find the winner between Portugal’s Nuno Borges and Greece’s defending champion Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Musetti flew out to a 3-0 lead early in the first set by breaking Berrettini’s serve in the second game and on the only break point of the entire partial, closed in the ninth game on the first set point.

Berrettini also immediately lost his serve in the second set, this time in the first game when he went down 0-40, nullified two break points but had to concede on the third. Same thing in the third game, this time he cancels all three break points.
