Red Bull preemption, Horner and Marko: "McLaren too strong"

Red Bull cautious ahead of the Bahrain Grand Prix, with a lot of pretactics from the muretto of the Anglo-Austrian team. Indeed, despite the epic victory picked up by Max Verstappen last Sunday in Suzuka, both Christian Horner and Helmut Marko have already been assured that they do not expect any further exploits from the weekend in Sakhir.

“It will be impossible to repeat the dry lap speed of a week ago, let alone keep everyone behind for the entire race– said Horner bluntly to the microphones of ‘Viaplay’ – Unlike Suzuka, overtaking is easy here in Bahrain, and in Red Bull we will have to do a lot of work to overcome the difficulties we have encountered so far”.

“The McLarens seem to be really fast – Horner continued -Mercedes and Ferrari are closer, but the McLarens seem to have tenths of an advantage over everyone else, including Red Bull. There are many aspects we need to improve on, starting with tire temperature management”.

Also along the same lines was Helmut Marko, who more or less at the same time said: “Red Bull gives up more than three tenths of a second to McLaren. We are too slow and we have tire overheating problems. This is something we cannot keep under control, so we can keep Lando Norris’ pace for three laps. But we should do it for 15″ instead.
