Venezia wins salvation clash with Monza, which is increasingly in the abyss

The Saturday of the 32nd day of Serie A opened with the crucial success of the Venezia over the Monza. At the Pierluigi Penzo, in fact, the Lagunari imposed themselves by a narrow margin on the Brianzoli, thus keeping their hopes of salvation alive. Desperate situation, instead, for the biancorossi, whose relegation to Serie B is now one step away.
The first goal chance is for the guests on 5′: on the development of a corner Pedro Pereira manages to hit a header, finding an’excellent response from Radu. The hosts′ response came on 25′ with Nicolussi Caviglia concluding from a good position, but Turati was good at repelling the ball also thanks to the’help of the crossbar. Four minutes later, the Brianza extreme defender repeated himself, denying the goal to Marcandalli.
The resumption began with a very slow pace and the ball stuck in the central area of the field. After the turnover of substitutions, however, the match livens up and at 73′ Venezia finds the goal of the lead: Ellertsson anticipates Birindelli on the left and puts in the middle for Fila, who in the split passes Turati, finding his first goal in Serie A.

A few minutes later, the Lagosians also came close to doubling the score with Nicolussi Caviglia who kicked the free kick well, but the Brianza goalkeeper saved the result again with another reflex.
In the final, Monza threw themselves forward in search of a desperate equalizer, but the orogranata were good at defending the lead until the final whistle.
Thanks to this success, Venezia moves up to 24 points just two points away from the salvation zone. Monza, on the other hand, remains stuck at 15 points and relegation to Serie B is now just a step away.
