Carlos Alcaraz keeps a low profile

Following his triumph in the Monte Carlo Masters 1000, Carlos Alcaraz is already focused on the Barcelona ATP 500, where he will make his debut on Tuesday, April 16, against American Quinn. Speaking at a press conference, the Spanish tennis player did not want to give too much away about his chances of victory.
“I don“t think I’m at my best level, I played better matches this year than in Monte Carlo. Winning and playing well are obviously two different things, but I have been able to keep my concentration up. I think I am having a good year, maybe in the’last month I played a little bit’worse, but I think I played good tennis in the tournaments I participated in. Now on clay it is not easy to get into a rhythm and confidence quickly, but we are trying” began the Spanish tennis player.
“There are many players who can make the difference in every tournament, right now there are 6-7 tennis players who can win. I don’t want to consider myself a favorite on clay, I go with the lowest possible expectations. I just want to give importance to what is important to me: to go out and have fun” continued the world number two.
“Right now tennis is in a great moment, there are many young players capable of fighting for great things and fighting for great titles, we have already seen it with Mensik, a player who will continue to grow, but who is already established. Joao Fonseca is another one I love to watch, he has a lot of charisma on the court and plays great tennis. I played for the first time with Artur Fils in Monte Carlo and was amazed by his strength. We are at a time when there’s a wide range of young people who are struggling and showing their strengths and this is very good for our sport” added the Murcian.
“In Monte Carlo, it was not the best on a physical level to always play three sets or such tight matches, however, at least I was able to get used to the surface more easily” concluded Carlos Alcaraz.
